Privacy Policy

Effective Date: May 15, 2026

CloudMate is a macOS application for Google Drive sync. This Privacy Policy explains what information may be collected, how it is used, and the choices available to users.

Google API Limited Use

CloudMate's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Information You Provide

If you contact customer support, you may provide information such as your name, email address, device details, screenshots, logs, or details about the issue. Support data is kept only as long as needed to provide support, maintain service quality, comply with legal obligations, or resolve disputes, and in no case longer than five years after the last communication.

Google Drive Data

CloudMate accesses Google Drive data only to provide the app's sync and file-management functionality. The app may read and store a local cache of Google Drive file metadata on your Mac, such as file ID, file name, MIME type, web link, trash status, and sync cursor data. This local cache is used to display file lists quickly, support offline-first browsing, and keep the app updated through Google Drive change notifications. Google Drive remains the source of truth for your files.

We do not sell Google user data. We do not use Google user data for advertising. We do not allow humans to read your Google Drive content unless you explicitly provide it to support or it is required for security, legal, or abuse-prevention reasons.

Retention and Deletion of Google User Data

CloudMate does not operate a separate server-side database that stores your Google Drive file data. Google Drive metadata used by the app is stored locally on your Mac for as long as you remain signed in and need the app to provide sync, browsing, and offline-first functionality.

When Google Drive reports that a file has been permanently removed or moved to trash, CloudMate's sync process removes the corresponding local cached record from the app's local database. The app also updates its local cache when files are renamed, moved, shared, or otherwise changed in Google Drive.

When you sign out of CloudMate, the app stops background sync, clears the local Google Drive change cursor, and deletes the locally cached Google Drive file metadata from its Core Data SQLite database. Uninstalling the app also removes app data stored in the app's local sandbox according to macOS behavior. These actions remove CloudMate's local copy of Google Drive metadata from your device; they do not delete files from your Google Drive account unless you explicitly perform a delete action in the app or in Google Drive.

If you contact support and provide logs, screenshots, or other information that contains Google user data, that support information is retained only as long as needed to provide support, maintain service quality, comply with legal obligations, or resolve disputes, and in no case longer than five years after the last communication.

Log Data

When you use the app, especially when an error occurs, diagnostic data may be collected. This may include your device IP address, device name, operating system version, app configuration, time and date of use, crash information, and related statistics. We use this information to troubleshoot problems and improve reliability.

Cookies

The CloudMate website may use basic Cloudflare hosting and security functionality. The Mac app does not explicitly use browser cookies. Third-party services used by the website or support workflow may use cookies under their own policies.

Service Providers

We may use third-party companies and individuals to host the website, provide support, process payments, analyze service reliability, or perform service-related tasks. These providers may access personal information only as needed to perform their work and are obligated not to disclose or use it for other purposes.

Security

We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

Links to Other Sites

The service may contain links to third-party sites, including Google and Apple pages. We are not responsible for the content, privacy policies, or practices of third-party sites or services.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes are effective when posted on this page.
